The world is complex, the future uncertain. There is a lively debate about which path people should take. Among other things, there are calls for more global cooperation, individual empowerment, ecological sustainability, automation and cultural diversity. Our decisions affect the future. Artists ask where do we go? Where is the future of art and how big should the human impact be?
Duilio Amarante Martins works with photography and sculpture, both of which present unique challenges, such as the element of time. However, they also share similarities, such as the exclusion of non-essential elements. In photography, the focus is on capturing light and essence, while in sculpture, there is a consideration of how much the organic shape is preserved and how visible the artist's hand is in the final piece.
Matthieu Crimersmois presents a set of works created between 2008 and 2022.
The work explores the interplay between physical and digital art and Al. It questions the concept of success in life. How far can we go in relation to where we come from?
Usually, the public goes to art galleries or museums in a comfortable position of reception. reConvert proposes on this occasion the possibility for people to create their own art.
In this one-to-one experience, a member of the audience enters a blackbox room and meets the two performers and the Al software that will be ready to react to their commands.
A live performance with audience participation will take place during Kunsttsage from August 25th to 27th, 2023, between 3 pm and 6 pm.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// There is a fascinating and improbable story surrounding the vinyl object, its beauty, and its technical characteristics, the mechanics of turntables and their cyclical movements, as well as the analog and digital conversion of DJ sets.

English version :
ARTABLISM: Exploring the Intersection of Contemporary Art and Turntablism
The world of art has seen many innovative and groundbreaking movements throughout history, but none quite like ARTABLISM. This unique neologism combines the worlds of contemporary art and turntablism, using vinyl turntables as both a visual art instrument and a musical instrument.
The origins of ARTABLISM can be traced back to the late 90s, when scratch notation was first developed. However, it wasn't until 2005 that the technique of "phonoptique pour scratch" was created, allowing for real-time scratching directly from the turntables through the gestures of the DJ in a live performance. This technique utilized light-sensitive paper and LED lights to create a visual representation of the scratching in real-time.
In 2007, the technique was further refined by adding a motor to each turntable and utilizing the forward and backward reading of the vinyl to transmit the motor data to an Arduino, which was connected to Max/MSP. This allowed for even more precise and intricate visual representations of the scratching in real-time.
As technology continued to advance, the advent of time-coded vinyls and VSTs allowed for even more refinement and multi-platform capabilities. This led to the development of scratch visualization software almost 20 years later, which aims to show scratching in real-time to help better understand the gesture.
However, ARTABLISM is not just about education and understanding. The Phonoptique project is intended to be a broader artistic tool to explore new possibilities of expression by bridging the gap between sound and visual arts, directly through the use of vinyl turntables. This has led to the development of unique and creative landscapes and "partitions" of scratch that have never been seen before.
ARTABLISM is truly a groundbreaking movement that combines the worlds of contemporary art and turntablism in a way that has never been done before. If you are interested in learning more about this innovative movement, contact the creator, Matthieu Crimersmois, for more information.
Sketch :
As technology advanced, in 2007 I created an upgrade by adding a motor to each turntable, utilizing the forward and backward reading of the vinyl and transmitting the motor data to an Arduino, which was connected to Max/MSP.
With the advent of time-coded vinyls and VSTs (such as Mix Vibes, Serato Traktor, and Mspinky from IRCAM), my tool started to become more refined and multi-platform. This technological revolution led to the development of scratch visualization software almost 20 years later, such as "scratch visualizer", which aim to show scratching in real-time to help better understand the gesture.
However, my work is not limited to this educational potential.
The Phonoptique project is intended to be a broader artistic tool to explore new possibilities of expression by bridging the gap between sound and visual arts, directly through the use of vinyl turntables.
